Kazakhstan's economy has been growing fast over the past few years, at an average annual rate of almost ten percent. ThyssenKrupp and Siemens are among the German companies hoping to profit from the country's economic growth and modernization. Two years behind schedule, ThyssenKrupp has started producing silicon at its factory in Karaganda. The silicon will be exported to western Europe.
Siemens is also expanding its presence in Kazakhstan, particularly its Health Care division, which supplies high-tech medical equipment
